KTM 990 - Made For Adventure

She makes men swoon and dream of big adventures in the far corners of this planet. The KTM 990 Adventure is made for great times off the main roads and beaten paths.

Two years ago, the Austrian manufacturer freshened up their big enduro bike, once again providing it with more power and enhanced comfort. The updates make the big orange even better for long, exciting adventures.





No question, the LC 8 could already take a beating on challenging rides. “But it can get even better than this” must have been the developers’ thought at Touratech before taking a closer look at the LC 8.

The outcome of Touratech’s thorough development process is a list of accessories that make being on tour with the Austrian twin even more pleasant. At the top of the list is the big tank. With a capacity of 45 litres, this fuel reservoir makes the KTM a true long-range travel bike.

There are few things more useful for carrying luggage than the pannier system and the tank bag by Touratech.

With its long suspension travel, robust chassis and powerful engine, the LC 8 is a solid basis for an extreme touring machine. Touratech’s customised parts make it fit for the adventure of a lifetime.

Light Cowling

This faring with twin headlights lends the bike a serious Dakar Rally look. The facelift and a 10cm lower front cover than the original makes the LC 8 look sportier. The fairing is curled at the top, providing the space to put an IMO, GPS mount or a roadbook on it. In the dark, the two DE lights make sure that you can see any obstacles ahead.

Large 12 gal (45 litre) Tank

Extreme journeys call for extreme fuel ranges. Touratech’s 45-litre tank more than doubles the bike’s total capacity. Despite carrying significantly more fuel, the LC 8 keeps it sporty character. Just as with the original tanks, the two halves of the tank are fitted on the right and on the left and filled separately. The tanks are supplied with lockable tank caps and are available in the colours orange, black and white/transparent.

Skidplate

A rugged skidplate is a MUST for off-road ventures. The LC 8 comes from the factory outfitted with only a flimsy stock plastic piece to protect sensitive electronics and expensive engine parts. Those riders unwilling to be left stranded with a broken bike need something stronger. Touratech’s strong 4mm aluminum skidplate is reliable protection from rocks and debris.

Headlight Guard Steel

A headlight guard is just as important as a skidplate for long tours. This steel mesh component specifically welded for the LC 8 can withstand a lot of abuse and ensures that the light won’t go out even on the rockiest of roads. The guard conforms to the contours of the LC 8 and looks as though it was meant to be there. Although this protector doesn’t have German TUV/ DOT type approval it shouldn’t be missing on your journey.

Luggage Rack Extension

A good luggage system should include a large rear luggage rack. The Touratech rack is made of 4mm anodised aluminum. The rack features cut outs designed to save weight without compromising stability. Touratech’s luggage rack extension features slots around the edge to provide many options for lashing or strapping gear.

Sport Seat

Touratech developed a sport seat for the LC 8 Adventure that comes in two different versions. Both models have a common contour designed to relieve the strain on the tailbone on long-distance trips. The difference is the seat height. The low version reduces the seat height to about 85cm, whereas the high seat is about 2cm higher than the original.
